Stanley Named Top-20 Finalist for Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- University of Iowa senior quarterback Nate Stanley has been named one of 20 finalists for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, which is presented annually to the top senior or fourth-year quarterback in the nation.
Stanley (6-foot-4, 243-pounds) has thrown for 1,225 passing yards and eight touchdowns, with a 61.9 (99-of-160) completion percentage in five games this season. The Menomonie, Wisconsin, native ranks second in in the Big Ten in completions per game (19.8), fourth in passing yards per game (245.0), and sixth in passing efficiency (138.9).
Stanley’s 60 career touchdown passes rank third all-time in program history, only trailing Chuck Long (74) and Drew Tate (61).
Stanley is one of only two Big Ten quarterbacks (Brian Lewerke, Michigan State; Shea Patterson, Michigan) on the list.
