CLARENCE — The North Cedar volleyball team improved to 17-11 overall and 4-1 in the River
Valley Conference last week with several victories. The Knights won both of their RVC matches and added a pair of wins at their home tournament last Saturday. The Knights play Cascade and Bellevue in RVC play this week. The match with Cascade could decide the RVC North as each team is 4-1 in conference play with less than two weeks of conference play left.
North Cedar won two RVC matches by 3-1 scores. North Cedar beat Anamosa at home on September 24 and at Mid-Prairie on September 26.
Against the Raiders, North Cedar lost the first set 25-21 before winning the next three to claim the match. North Cedar evened the match at 1-1, winning the second set 25-19. North Cedar took a 2-1 lead by winning the third set 25-14 and claimed the match by winning the third set 25-18.
Sydney Dennis had 35 assists and served 19-for-19 with an ace serve. Kelly Proesch had 12 kills and served 10-for-10 with three aces. Emma Boleyn had six kills, served 15-for-15 with two aces and had six blocks including four solo blocks. Kassidie Galloway had 22 digs and Kayla Paup added three kills.
The Knights played without senior Kassidie Galloway at Mid-Prairie after she was injured in practice between the two RVC matches. The Knights would take a 3-1 win at Wellman winning
the first two sets and the fourth set. North Cedar won the first set 25-8 and second set 26-24 to take a 2-0 match lead. North Cedar dropped the third set 25-17 but won the fourth set to claim the match, 25-18.
Andrea Wachendorf and Kelly Proesch each had 13 kills while Jenna Syring had seven, Emma Boleyn six and Sydney Dennis five. Dennis had 34 assists and 19 digs and served 16-for-16 with six aces. Averee Kasik had a team-high 25 digs while Syring had 17 and Proesch 15.
