Tiger swimmers send seniors o with win over Fair eld, 107-62



Regional Meet Next For THS
TIPTON — It was a bittersweet night on Monday, October 21 at the Tipton aquatic center. It was senior night and the program honored the three seniors this year - Britney Ford, Sara Webb, and Ali Anderson. All three were key to the Tigers win over Fair eld that night, and all three were the start of the wave of club swimmers that helped Tipton turn around their program in numbers and success. The culmination was reaching the 2018 state meet in two events for the rst time in many years. The four-year starters will exit the program leaving a mark on it that will be remembered for a long time. Ford, nearly unbeatable in the 100-yard breaststroke the past two seasons, Anderson a speedy sprinter, and Webb, a versatile swimmer helped the Tigers reach new heights over the past four years.
 On the 21st, Tipton beat Fairfield 107 to 62 to end their regular season schedule. The Tigers will swim at the Linn-Mar Regional state qualifying meet this Saturday. The Tigers will look to send their three relay teams to state this year. All three are ranked under the top-32 requirement to qualify for state. Quali ers will be known this weekend. The state swim meet is a week from Saturday, November 8 and 9 at the Marshalltown YMCA. Tipton won all eleven events at the meet.
 Ford won two events at the meet, turning in a season best times in each event. Ford won the 200-yard  individual medley and the 100- yard breaststroke. Ford’s time in the IM was 2:36.95 and her time in the 100-yard breaststroke was 1:15.85. Ali Anderson won the 100- yard backstroke in 1:10.34. Rhyan Hoefler won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:09.36. Maddie Swick posted a season best time in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:03.16. Corrine Vandergaast won the 100-yard freestyle in 1:14.91. Zoe Stonebraker won the 50-yard freestyle in 27.12. Kayley Clark won the 500-yard freestyle in 6:30.57.
 Samara Von Thun turned in season-best times in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle. Hannah Tucker had a season best time in the 200-yard IM and Alicia Beranek had a season best time in the 200-yard freestyle.
 The Tigers are 1-2 in both the 200-yard medley and the 200-yard freestyle relay events. The team of Zoe Stonebraker, Ali Anderson, Maddie Swick, and Rhyan Hoefler won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:49.06. That time was within one second of their season best time set back in early September. The same quartet won the 200-yard medley relay in 2:03.52 in the order of Anderson, Stonebraker, Swick, and Hoe er. The Tigers also won the 400-yard freestyle relay event with the same quartet in the order of Stonebraker, Anderson, Swick, and Hoe er in 4:08.39.
The 200-medley relay team of Webb, Ford, Clark, and Vandergaast was second in 2:17.70. The same team was second in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:04.47.

Tigers Head To Linn-Mar For Regionals
 The Tipton swimming team will head to Linn- Mar High School in Marion to swim at their regional meet. Teams there are Cedar Rapids Jefferson, Decorah, Iowa City, City High, Iowa City West, Keokuk, Linn-Mar, Vinton-Shellsburg- Union, and Williamsburg. The two Iowa City schools and Linn-Mar will be the teams to beat. The Tigers three relay events are fifth going into Saturday’s meet among the schools at the meet. The Tigers 200-yard freestyle relay is ranked 28th, their 400-yard freestyle relay is ranked 29th and their medley relay is ranked 27th. The state takes the top-32 at each relay event. The Tigers will have to swim well, and then wait to see what times come in across the state to see if they will qualify.
