TIPTON — The Tipton Tiger volleyball team opened the Class 3A Regional Tournament at home on Wednesday, October 23. There, the Tigers hosted South Tama out of the WaMac Conference. The Tigers would end the match with a 3-0 sweep over their foes from the West to advance along the tournament trail. THS will host Williamsburg on Tuesday, October 29 in a Region 7 seminal. Tipton led 10-4 before South Tama came back to get within five points, 11-6 and later within four points, 16-12. Tipton however, kept the Trojans away, going on an 8-3 run to close out the set, winning 25-15.

In the second set, a Chapman kill and Karlee Kamberling ace gave THS a 2-0 lead. South Tama rallied and tied the match at 2-2. Ties early on in the set were common as there were ten ties in the match before the 15th point was scored. Tipton took a 15-14 lead on a side out point and didn’t look back. The Tigers outscored the Trojans 10-5 the rest of the set to take a commanding 2-0 match lead.

The Tigers and Trojans were locked in another close set in the third, but the Tigers would prevail winning 25-18 to claim the set and complete the sweep, 3-0.

Tipton had 99 attacks in the match with 44 kills. Seniors Sommer Daniel and Kamryn Chapman led the Tigers with 15 and 14 respectively. Daniel had 20 assists and Alex Hoffman had 16.
