IOWA CITY — Two North Cedar Knight runners advanced to the 2019 Iowa State Cross-Country meet this Saturday in Fort Dodge. Junior Kiley Chapman and freshman Hunter Jones placed in the top-15 nishers. Jones placed 9th in a time of 21:22 and Chapman placed 15th in a time of 21:35. The top-15 individuals and the top-3 teams qualify for the state meet.
In the team race, Iowa City Regina won the meet with 60 points while Pekin was the runner-up with 89 and Prince of Peace was third with 117. Regina is ranked No. 5 in 1A, Pekin No. 6, and Prince of Peace No. 18. No. 10 Central Elkader placed fourth in the team race 17 points away from third place Prince of Peace.
Other North Cedar finishes were 44th, Rhyan Hoefler in 23:51, 84th, Sarah Redhage in 26:48, 95th, Karly Cerda in 28:06, and 104th, Jillet Spahr in 29:32.
Durant placed 13th with 291 points. Durant had two runners place in the top-60 finishers. Carlie Jo Fusco placed 34th in 23:11 and Heidi Wolf placed 51st in 24:14. Two others placed in the top-100 with Ellie Collman-Long placing 70th and Kyrnan Liske-Rochholz placeing 73rd. Wilton placed 14th with 301 points. Four Beavers placed in the top-100 runners. Charlotte Brown placed 43rd in 23:50 while Emmy Drake and Lindsey Randolph placed 61st and 66th. Abbi Brown also placed in the top-100 runners with a 71st place finish.

Wilton senior Zach Hein Qualifies For State
IOWA CITY — Wilton senior Zach Hein qualified for the state cross- country meet this week by finishing in the top-15 individuals at the Class 1A state qualifying meet in Iowa City. There, Hein placed fourth in 17:21. Chase Knoche from Calamus Wheatland won the meet in a time of 16:53 while Colten Glosser and Brady Millikin from Pekin were the runner-ups and third place nishers. In the team race No. 5 Calamus- Wheatland won the meet with a team score of 51. No. 8 Pekin was the runner-up with 75 points and No. 9 Maquoketa Valley placed third with 87 points.
Wilton placed seventh in the team race with 230 points. Ethan Bailey placed 42nd, Jake Walton 60th, Chayton Ramsey 68, and Gavin Reid 71st.
Durant placed 14th as a team led by Drake Shelangoski with a 25th place finish in 18:18 and Nathan Moomey with a 32nd place nish in 18:52.
North Cedar placed 19th with 464 points. Sam Choate led North Cedar with a 75th place nish in 20:23. Jacob Spahr added a 77th place n- ish in 20:27.
