The Beavers blitzed Van Buren with 36 rst half points to take a 36-0 halftime lead. The second half of the game was played with the running clock rule after Wil- ton took a 35-point or more lead in the second half.
Wilton scored three first-quarter touchdowns to take command of the game after the first quarter. For the second straight week, Wilton’s Colby Sawvell opened the game with a kick-off return for a touchdown and a 6-0 lead. This week, Sawvell raced 82 yards for the opening touchdown after some fancy footwork put him ahead of the Van Buren return team. A Mason Ormsby 7-yard scoring run gave Wilton a 14-0 lead. The two players that each scored a touchdown connected for the Beavers third score. Ormsby tossed a 16-yard scoring pass to Sawvell to set the score at 20-0.
Wilton scored two more touchdowns in the second quarter. Ormsby threw his second touchdown pass of the game, this time a 3-yard pass for a 28-0 lead. Later Ormsby threw his third touchdown pass of the rst half, a 55-yard score to Sawvell to set the halftime score at 36-0. Jackson Hull had two, two-point conversion runs and Ormsby added another in the rst half. Each team would score a second-half touchdown. A 1-yard run by senior Coy Baker gave Wilton a 44-0 lead. Van Buren scored their only touchdown on a Conner Helling 8-yard run.
Mason Ormsby passed for 98 yards on six completions with three touchdown passes. He rushed for 94 yards on 15 carries and a touchdown. Jackson Hull added 53 yards on eight carries. Colby Sawvell led three Wilton receivers with four catches for 88 yards and two touchdowns.
Defensively, Kael Brisker led Wilton in tackles with nine while Wyatt VanDusen had eight and Daryn Clark, Jackson Hull, and Dalton Snider each had seven. Wilton had seven tackles for loss in the game. Clark had two to lead Wilton. Clark also led Wilton with two of their five sacks. Sawvell and Snider each had interceptions and Jackson Hull and Sam Nelson each had fumble recoveries.
